"The Master Programme was a starting point in my career as project coordinator "

Role:  Project Coordinator

The International Master in European Project Planning and Management has been for me a very important occasion to gain more knowledge about the main European Funding Programs. The trainers shared with the students their professional experiences together with important social skills. Even though the time was very dense, and not always enough to reach all the planned targets with the same effectiveness, I learned a lot during that time.

In January 2019 I started the internship at the Martin Luther University in Halle (Saale), at the Institute of Geosciences and Geography – Department of Sustainable Landscape Development. My supervisor and my colleagues have offered me their support since the beginning and I had the chance to be actively involved in their project activities immediately. My main task for the first 2 months has been to support one of my colleagues in writing a project proposal under the programme Horizon2020, pillar 3 (Societal Challenge 5), including some Partners from Latin America. Thanks to this experience I learned a lot about the main challenges related to the management of European projects. Of course, an internship at the University is a very specific choice, but I always liked the idea to combine project management tasks with research activities. Therefore I enjoyed very much this opportunity.

In June 2019 I signed a contract as post-doc at the Martin-Luther University. After 3 + 3 months of internship, I had the opportunity to start working as project coordinator for two new projects: one financed by the German Government and the other one financed by the European Programme Interreg Europe.
This was for me a new starting point in my career as project coordinator and as researcher.
I am very glad and thankful for having received this opportunity.
