Within Spain, the UMH sits in eighth position. The multidisciplinary working group of this university is part of the research group "Water and Energy for sustainable agriculture" of UMH, since 2007. Among other lines of research, UMH develop technology in: energy efficiency in the agri-food sector, monitoring and modeling of water and energy consumption in agriculture. In recent years, the research task has focused on the development of low-cost sensors for water and energy management in agriculture. They emphasize: the advances in capacitive and resistive sensors for the monitoring of soil moisture and salinity; development of light sensors based on doped LEDs for the control of brightness; development of specific sensors for the detection of quality in food products (electronic noses). The research team has been participating in technological developments related to the digital image analysis applied to agriculture. Moreover, the members of this research team have been participating in numerous subsidized research projects. .
