EU-US Cooperation in Higher Education and Vocational Training


This Call for Proposals EACEA/36/10 on EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training was published by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency in the framework of Atlantis: Actions for Transatlantic Links and Academic Networks in Training and Integrated Studies

The general objectives of the EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training are to promote mutual understanding between the peoples of the European Union and the United States of America including broader knowledge of their languages, cultures and institutions and to improve the quality of human resource development in both the European Union and the United States of America.

Eligible applicants under the call on EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training are higher education institutions and vocational education and training institutions (including Community colleges in the USA). For Policy-oriented Measures, the EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training call is also open to other organisations such as accreditation agencies, education agencies or organisations, private companies, industry and business groups, non-governmental organisations, research institutes and professional bodies. Eligible applicants for the call EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training must be established in one of the countries of the European Union.

This call for proposals on EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training is organized in three Actions.

Action 1 — Transatlantic Degree Consortia Projects
This Action of the call EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training provides support for consortia of European and US higher education institutions to implement dual/double or joint degree cooperation programs. Support cooperation includes mobility grants for students and members of the academic and administrative staff. The maximum cooperation duration of projects is 48 months.

Action 2 — Excellence in Mobility Projects
This Action of the call EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training provides funding for international curriculum development projects that involve short-term transatlantic mobility not directly related to the award of a joint or dual/double degree. Support includes mobility grants for students and members of the academic and administrative staff. The maximum duration of cooperation projects is 48 months.

Action 3 — Policy-oriented Measures
This Action of the call EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training provides support to multilateral European-US projects and activities designed to enhance collaboration in the higher education and vocational training field. The maximum duration of cooperation projects is 24 months.

The overall budget for the co-financing of projects under this call for EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training amounts to 6 440 000 euro.

Applications for the call EU-US Cooperation in higher education and vocational training have to be submitted, as final deadline, both to the EU and to the USA no later than 7 April 2011.
