Europe for Citizen Programme

Call for proposals

The Call for Proposal covering the implementation of the Europe for Citizens Programme’s Action 2, Measure 1 and 2: Structural support for European public policy research organisations and think tanks and for civil society organisations at European level was published on the official journal of the European Union.

The Europe for Citizens Programme’s objectives are:

- To give citizens the opportunity to interact and participate in constructing an ever closer Europe, democratic and world-oriented, united in and enriched through its cultural diversity

- To develope a sense of European identity, based on common values, history and culture,  

-To foster a sense of ownership of the European Union among its citizens and

- To enhance tolerance and mutual understanding between European citizens respecting and promoting cultural and linguistic diversity, while contributing to intercultural dialogue.

The priorities of this Europe for Citizens Programme’s call for proposals are:

- to foster action, debate and reflection related to European citizenship and democracy, shared values, common history and culture through the activities and cooperation of think tanks and within civil society organisations at European level

- to encourage interaction between citizens and civil society organisations from all participating countries, contributing to intercultural dialogue and bringing to the fore both Europe’s diversity and unity.

The Target Groups for this Europe for Citizens Programme’s call for proposal are citizens of the EU and the European Union Institutions.

Eligible participants within this Europe for Citizens Programme’s call for proposal are consortia of non-profit legal entities established in one of the EU Member States, Croatia, Albania, former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The consortium might include:

- European public policy research organisations and think tanks

- Civil society organisations working on a European level

- Civil society organisations involved in fostering active European remembrance

- Pan-European umbrella organisations

The eligible actions that can be funded within this Europe for Citizens Programme’s call for proposal must be related to the following themes:

- Priority one — EU: values, rights and opportunities for citizens

- Priority two — Citizens’ participation in the democratic life of the EU.

The total budget available for this Europe for Citizens Programme’s call for proposal amounts to EUR 7,7 milions. EU Contribution cannot constitute more than 85% of overall eligible project cost for transitional grants, and not more than 15 % % of overall eligible project cost for annual grants.

The deadline for submitting proposals in the framework of the current Europe for Citizens Programme’s Call for Proposals is 15 November 2012.
