European Call for proposals

The call for proposals VP/2012/001 “Industrial relations and social dialogue” has been published by the European Commission.
The VP/2012/001 call for proposals is intended to cover grants for promoting social dialogue at cross-industry and sectorial level in accordance with Article 154 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The measures should help the social partner organizations (representatives of management and labour) to contribute to addressing the overarching EU employment and social policy challenges as laid down in the Europe 2020 Strategy

The objectives of the “Industrial relations and social dialogue” call for proposals include measures and initiatives related to the adaptation of social dialogue to changes in employment and work and related challenges, such as addressing modernisation of the labour market, quality of work, anticipation, preparation and management of change and restructuring, flexicurity, skills, mobility and migration, youth employment, contributions to the health and safety strategy, reconciliation of work andfamily life, gender equality, action in the field of anti-discrimination, active ageing, active inclusion and decent work.

The aim of this call for proposals published by the European Commission is to improve expertise in industrial relations (especially in European and comparative terms), to promote the exchange of information and experience among parties actively involved in industrial relations (companies, workers, public authorities and research centres) and to promote the development of industrial relations in Europe.

Eligible participants within the current “Industrial relations and social dialogue” call for proposals are:
- Social partners
- Organizations linked to industrial relations
- Public authorities
- International organizations.

The actions that can be funded within the current “Industrial relations and social dialogue” call for proposals can include:
- general seminars or conferences on industrial relations, including preparatory studies, the organisation of round tables, exchanges of experience and networks of key actors and/or experts;
- initiatives to further the collection and use of information on national industrial relations systems and on developments at European level;
- initiatives to promote knowledge on effective industrial relations practices, including successful forms of worker participation, particularly in regard to the anticipation, preparation and management of change;
initiatives contributing to the preparation or use (presentation, discussions and dissemination) of the European Commission\'s Industrial Relations in Europe report.

The total budget available for this “Industrial relations and social dialogue” call for proposals amounts to 7 750 000 €.

The deadline for submitting proposals in the framework of the current call for proposals published by the European Commission is 4 September 2012 for actions commencing no earlier than 4 November 2012 and no later than 21 December 2012
